HilalBase was founded in the month of Sha'ban, 1427, of the Islamic Hijri calendar to serve the Muslim community of North America . We firmly believe that physically sighting the crescent moon as the basis for beginning the lunar month is established by the Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and grant him peace), and has been the position of the overwhelming majority of Islamic scholarship to this day. HilalBase has therefore been established to provide a much needed resource on authentic moon sighting information for various Muslim communities. From astronomical data on sighting possibilities to a list of organizations near you which adhere to local moon sighting, this initiative aims to bridge the information gap by centralizing various services relevant to moon sighting in an easily accessible portal.

Our Services Moon Sighting Announcements Based on uniform moon sighting and reporting policies, HilalBase provides official moon sighting announcements establishing the beginning of the Islamic month. Moon Sighting Possibilities Based on astronomical data, HilalBase provides moon visibility curves and other relevant information on moon sighting possibilities for the upcoming Islamic month. Database of Islamic Organizations HilalBase provides a database of Islamic organizations such as Mosques that follow the local moon sighting position. It also allows organizations to register to be listed in the database. Furthermore, HilalBase gives users the ability to search for listed Islamic organizations near them. |
